The rainbow flag-themed set is scheduled to release on the first of next month to celebrate Pride Month. While the four colors in LEGO's most recent tease are very specific, LEGO's upcoming "Everything is Awesome" set will feature every color of the rainbow. Besides Skylanders, one of the most prominent ongoing toys-to-life series is Nintendo's Amiibo, which recently announced a Zelda & Loftwing figurine, which will be compatible with the upcoming remaster The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword HD. Following its discontinuation, LEGO Dimensions joined a long list of canceled toys-to-life video games, such as Disney Infinity. While no further copies of the game and no future expansion packs were developed, the game and all previously released compatible figures still work.

LEGO Dimensions was discontinued after two years of additional figure packs in October 2017. The game featured popular characters from multiple franchises, including Batman, Gandalf, the Ghostbusters, Scooby-Doo, the Wicked Witch of the West and GLaDOS. It was a toys-to-life video game, similar to Disney Infinity or the Skylanders franchise, which used physical figures that could interact with the game. The original LEGO Dimensions was released in 2015 for the PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, Xbox 360, Xbox One and Wii U. A Twitter user theorized about the colored studs, saying, "yellow/cyan/magenta were the colours used to denote moving the figures to another part of the base which was a big part of LEGO Dimensions, and the series 2 bases were orange." The LEGO Twitter account responded, "Stay tuned for more info to be revealed soon." This prompted many fans to speculate that LEGO may be teasing LEGO Dimensions 2.
